FVS Accounts Solution

START_UP FAILURE

Problem:

When I open FVS it fails to start properly.

Solution:

If you computer crashes for any reason, FVS data files can be left locked. If this occurs you will notice a small 1K lock file in the folder C:\FVSW file on your server next to the 'FVSData' file.

To correct this do the following:

1. Click on the 1 k lock file and press DEL (Num lock off) to delete it.

2. Open the 'FVSData' file to confirm that your data is accessible.

3. If an error is report on opening your FVS data file, carry out the recommended compaction and recovery process.

4. Once your data is accessible, you can try re-starting FVS.

5. If all else fails, copy current FVS data to a backup disk (if different to your last backup), and restore your last backup data file.

Note: When restoring a backup file you may need to 'catch it up' by re-entering of data. be sure to move data documents from your IN tray to your PROCESSED tray as you process documents. The documents in your PRECSSED tray should be the ones that you need to re-enter. When you make a new backup, clear your PROCESSED tray into a folder and label it with the PROCESSED date.
